Yesterday when I posted a few items for sale I forgot to add these lovely beeswax basket cups. I made these using local blackened beeswax from a mold from Sharon Mitchell. They stand 2 1/2 inches tall not including the rusty wire hanger and are 3 inches across. They come filled with drieds ~ choices are sweet annie, dried lavender or dried flax flowers or you may choose a flicker light.
The price for the baskets filled with drieds is $9.00 plus shipping and with the flicker light $12.00 plus shipping. I think they are so lovely to add a little springtime into your home and how cute would they look with your favorite bunny or doll. They also hang nicely.

This is my latest shaker cheese basket. I've included 2 photos so you can get a good idea of how large it actually is. It is 24 inches in diameter and if you have a large empty space this is perfect for you. I am taking orders for these. LOTS OF NEW CHRISTMAS WARES

This Civil War sampler and Santa were designed by Lori of notforgotten farm. The santa is a wee 9 inches. He is made from feedsack and very heavily aged. His pants are an old quilt piece and his shirt is homespun. His beard is sheeps wool. The sampler has been stitched on 35 ct straw linen from WDW and has also been aged. I've shown a picture below of the back which is an old quilt piece with vintage batting poking out in a couple of spots. If you like primitive you will love this set. This wonderful olde fashioned angel makedo was made using an awesome pattern from Wendy at Pineberrylane.com She measures 15 inches tall including the old bobbin. She is made from muslin which has been stained, painted and sanded. Her facial features are all handstitched and she has a tiny bit of flax hair. Her blouse is osnaberg and her skirt is burlap. Her wings are also burlap which I've sewn on and sprinkled with mica flakes. She has the sweetest face.

This is Santa and Elmer, another PineberryLane pattern. Santa and Elmer are made from muslin, santa has wool jacket and pants and an osnaberg shirt. He's wearing a gray wool hat with a bell attached and has a little wool sewn around the edge of the hat. He has rusty bells on his "shoes". Stitched face with vintage button eyes, sheep's wool beard and 'stache, and notice is red mouth with the tiny teeth. Elmer also is showing some tiny teet, is wearing a wool blanket and has an old stick for an antler with a tiny bit of flax around the stick. Santa has a little sweet annie and a candy cane in his pocket. There is a string attached for hanging. Kindly asking $75.00 which includes shipping in the US.

Christmas is coming!

Yule Tyme designed mostly by Pineberrylane with a couple of my own touches. This pinkeep measures 7 x 4 1/2 inches, is rag stuffed and backed with red wool. a rusty bell is attached with a rusty safety pin. Yule Tyme is sold, thanks ever so much!

This large pinkeep was designed by Jenny Hoffman. It measures 9 x 6 inches, is rag and wool stuffed and is backed with dark green and cream homespun. The santa's robe is stitched in brown and he's holding a small spring of holly. The letters appear darker than they are. It has been stained. I have attached a rusty jingle bell with a rusty pin. This snowman candle is solid beeswax that I have blackened and it comes with a grubby tealight. It measures 3 inches high and 3 inches wide. It's a lovely accent to your home all winter long. The detail is much better than the picture. Price is $10.00 plus shipping.

This stocking has been made from muslin and measures 26 1/2 inches not including the loop for hanging. I have added a piece of heavy linen which I stitched a santa and the year 1763. I just finished this wonderful Merry Christmas hanging sampler from a PineberryLane
pattern & I love how it turned out. Santa is giving Rudolph a ride in his sleigh. This sampler has been stitched on 28ct. over 2 threads with drab browns, greens, grays and red and is backed with drab green wool. I've attached 3 rusty jingle bells to the bottom. Creamy white beeswax ornies

Hi, Everyone ~ I've added another color to my primitive beeswax ornaments. A lovely creamy white, these have been dusted and rubbed lightly with spices. They are the color of the moon. The moon angel has a wee bit of flax for hair and they both have rusty wire hangers attached. Above is the moon angel and below is the tombstone angel. Aren't these primitive beeswax witch ornies the cutest darn things? I love them. They have been poured with pitch beeswax, rubbed with spices and then I added a small rusty wire hanger. The wire will turn to hang as shown or will turn sideways to add to your tree. The detail on these lil' witches is perfect. Thanks to Sharon of Homespun Heart Primitives for another fantastic mold. The above witch is awesome and my pitiful attempt at getting a good picture ~ well, let's just say I'm asking Santa for a new camera this year. Witch of Primwicke is her name and I made her from a fabulous mold from Sharon at homespunheartprimitives. Sharon has a blog and a picturetrail, she does fabulous work. I have made this gal from local beeswax which I have dyed black, then when she was all set up I hand rubbed special spices on her. I then gaave her some "wicked and wild" hair of flax. Farmer Elder's Primitive Pumpkins from a design from Wendy at http://www.pineberrylane.com/
The smaller pumpkin pictured above measures 11 inches tall not counting his stem. It has been made from muslin which has been stained, painted and stained again. It is mounted on an antique oil can with grungy cheesecloth wrapped at the base. He has mismatched antique button eyes, a wool mouth stitched on and a rusty wire mouth which I have stitched on. He has a stick for a stem with a wee bit of flax added for his hair. Price for smaller pumpkin is $24.00 which includes shipping.
The large pumpkin, pictured below, is about 12 inches tall not counting the stick stem. It has been made from muslin which has been stained, painted, then stained again for that extreme primitive look we all love. He has mismatched antique button eyes, a wool patch for his nose and mouth and stitched big "teeth". He is mounted on an antique hog scraper with grungy cheesecloth wrapped around the base. A long stick stem was added along with a little bit of flax hair. Price is $27.00 which includes shipping. You will love these guys.

Halloween kitty was made using a pattern by Netty LaCroix. He is made from painted and stained muslin and is wearing his witch hat, getting ready for Halloween.
He measures 10 1/2 inches x 13 1/2 inches. His nose and mouth are primitively stitched and he has button eyes. His hat is slightly stuffed and is also stitched on. He has antique button eyes & has a little bell on a string around his neck. Price is $23.00 which includes shipping.

Fancey Blackett and her butterchurn was stitched using a Pineberry Lane pattern for which I have provided the link above. I love this pinkeep. I have stitched it on 32 ct. linen with one thread. Love the sunflowers it features and her tiny initials at the bottom. I dearly love Fancey, she's such a good little witch and is always so busy. This pinkeep measures 6 x 6 inches and is backed with a cream and black checked fabric. I've attached a string for hanging but it also looks great in an old cupboard or bowl. It has been aged lightly with walnut crystals.

Good afternoon my primitive friends. First off I have to apologize for this first picture. Half of it is missing and I wanted to remove it but couldn't figure that part out, lol. This is Mrs. Honora Begg who is widely known for her carving thus she carries her lil' sack with a crudely stitched pumpkin on it in all of her travels. I have filled her sack with some lovely rusty colored broomcorn. Mrs. Begg was made using another wonderful Pineberry Lane pattern.
Mrs. Begg is 25 inches tall from her feet (which have bells attached) to the tip of her wool hat. She has button eyes and a stitched nose and mouth. Her dress top is osnaberg and the skirt is a mustard homespun. There is an antique wood button sewn on her dress. She has a string attached for hanging. Kindly asking $41.00 which includes shipping. TAKING A BREAK, PART TWO

Good afternoon, my friends! I posted awhile back that I'm taking a break but the orders continued to come in. I'm nearing the end of the orders now, just a few left and they should all be going out this week. I will be sending invoices soon if you are waiting to hear from me and I have several boxes to be mailed tomorrow.
Now for my break, part 2 ~ I will not be accepting any new orders for baskets until further notice so if you are wanting to order, please wait awhile. I will post on both of my blogs when I am ready for any new orders. I will be watching our little grandsons for 2 weeks starting April 25th and I seriously need to get some spring cleaning done and possibly some painting and yard work before the 25th. I'm running out of time. I've been so busy in the shop for which I'm very grateful but I must pay attention to our home. It's really getting out of hand, lol. I will be posting some new items later this evening or tomorrow which I have been working on in the evenings, a few new cross stitch, maybe a couple of other things. TAKING A SHORT BREAK TO CATCH UP

I want to thank everyone one that has placed orders with me and I must say I'm overwhelmed. If you are waiting for a basket or two from me you should be hearing from me this week. I just wanted to do a quick post to let everyone know that I"m not taking anymore orders until I catch up. I really don't like to keep people waiting. Beeswax Rabbit, potato basket

The potato basket was one of the earliest baskets brought to our country. It is woven with one hoop and several "ribs" This one measures 10 across the top, 12 inches across the bottom and is 7 inches high. There is an opening on each side to be used as a handle. It is shown here with a walnut stain finish. Price is $38.00 which includes shipping in the 48 states.

This sweet blackened beeswax bunny was made with a mold I bought from HomespunHeartPrimitives. It is just shy of 3 inches square not counting the wire hanger. My first offering this evening is a primitive doll made from a pattern by Netty Lacroix. Her name is Mrs. Baker. The original pattern had a carrot on her chest but I so love blue and it's almost Valentine's Day so I sewed a small heart on her which is made with early fabric. If you click on the picture you can see the fabric has tiny hearts on it. Her skirt is made from vintage med. blue ticking that I was lucky enough to find. She is a very simple doll. She is lightly stained as the pattern called for, her hair is aged kitchen string, she has two button eyes, a pinch stitched nose and a stitched mouth. She measures 27 inches. She sits or hangs. This is Mrs. Burr also made from a Netty pattern. Her dress is made from a vintage soft brown flannel with early blue and cream flowers. She has two button eyes, a wool nose, stitched mouth. This hospitality beeswax heart has so much beautiful detail. The pineapple front and center, a pear, apples, cherries, it's so pretty but such a shame I can't get a very good picture. NEW ENGLAND EGG BASKET, PINKEEP

This is a New England Egg basket woven by me. It measures about 15 inches across the top and is 16 inches tall counting the handle. It is a nice large basket and can serve several purposes. There is a slight "hump" on the inner base, I suppose to keep eggs from rolling around as they were collected. I mixed a couple of different paints and came up with "cobalt blue" as it matches the blue perfectly on my antique salt glazed stoneware. I have also shown it in the walnut and red over black. The rims and handles were left natural and the colors and the stain look beautiful together.

here you can see a picture of the "indented" base which causes the inner hump. This adds alot of strenth to this basket. Price for this basket is $57.00 which includes parcel shipping to the 48 contiguous states. WALNUT STAINED basket is SOLD, THANKS.

This Christmas stocking basket measures 13 inches tall and is 10 inches wide at the toe. The length does not include the handle for hanging from a cupboard door or peg. I love how this makedo turned out, OH, so very prim. I have made her from just the head part of one of Wendy's patterns from PineberryLane, Providence Old Acre. I also made the doll and she is fantastic. She sits in my porch every fall, looking around & watching my wayward dogs. This makedo has been made from muslin with a pinch stitched nose, stitched mouth and old button eyes. Her hair is flax and I have mounted her on an old textile bobbin, then wrapped the base with homespun and added some grungy string. No glue has been used. I then added an old key. Providence is 17 inches tall to the top of her stem and is 7 inches wide. She has been heavily stained, painted, then sanded for an old time worn look. SOLD, THANKS SO MUCH. This primitive sock doll measures 10 inches tall and is made on a glass jar which has been weighted and she is rag stuffed. Her dress and bonnet aremade from an indigo and cream homespun which is antique fabric that I purchased online. Her face has been handstitched with two button eyes. I love how these primitive tealight holders came out. They are made with a zinc lid which I have filled with flax and a grubby tea light, attached a rusty wire handle to. These are $8.00 which includes shipping, 48 States. Perfect for that little spot that you've been wondering what it needs.

Ira Chloe is an Angel and the Crow pattern. She is a field angel and is perfectly prim. She is 14 inches wide and 8 1/2 inches tall. She has a muslin bonnet and an osnaberg apron. I love how this wool pillow with pumpkin face and pennys turned out. It is a Pineberry Lane pattern. It is a little darker than what the picture shows as I took the picture outside. I wanted to pop in for a minute to wish you all a very Happy and Blessed Easter. The picture above is a new basket I came up with from a picture and will be trying different painting techniques on it soon and then posting it for sale. Hello my prim friends! We are enjoying beautiful spring weather here in Michigan and on the weekend we took a road trip to our cabin so I had lots of stitching time. Today I have 3 new pinkeeps/pillows to offer.
The first one is a new pattern by Jen Hoffman "Merry Spring 1805". I stitched it on 28ct. linen, stuffed it with rags for a wonderful old feel and coffee stained it and baked it. It measures a very generous 9 x 6 3/4 inches and looks awesome in an old bowl or basket with some primitive grass. It is backed with a wonderful blue reproduction fabric. NEW BASKET

Good afternoon prim friends! I hope everyone out there on the east coast is managing OK with this storm they are getting. I saw on Loretta's blog that they are without power and have resorted to PB & J sandwiches.
Anyway, I know this isn't a new basket but it is a new offering here on Primitive basketcase. I made these years ago and had forgotten about them but then I saw a couple in the latest CS Home Tour Edition so thought I would make a few. So far I have a distressed black one and a walnut stained one ready to go. This heart basket measures 15 1/2 inches tall including the handle. It is 13 inches wide at it widest point near the top, the pockets are roughly 7 inches wide x 9 1/2 high. Even for those of you that don't like hearts, this is not really a typical heart and this basket looks wonderful hanging from a peg. It may be filled with your favorite drieds or left as is. Little more cross stitch

This lovely primitive pillow was made from a Shelly Auen pattern. It was stitched on 28 ct. linen, backed with brown wool and rag stuffed for a nice old feel. It measures 9 x 6 1/2 inches. I have attached a rusty bell & safety pin and it has been stained with walnut crystals. Price is $23.00 which includes shipping to the 48 US. SOLD, THANKS SO VERY MUCH!

This "Needfuls" box was made from a Stacy Nash design. It has a brown flower urn & lovely blue and pewter flowers with green foliage. It has been stained with walnut stain. This has been stitched on 28ct linen with one thread over two and the top does have some stuffing so may be used for pins and needles. The fabrics on the sides and bottoms are repro fabrics from Wyndham collection. Included in this is some flax and 3 robin egg blue eggs. You may display the eggs in a bowl or basket and use the box for your sewing needfuls. What a lovely set for spring. This measures 6 1/2 inches across the top and is almost 4 inches tall. TULIPS IN SPRING

Good evening prim friends. Tonight I'm offering this lovely Spring pinkeep for your consideration. This pinkeep is from a pattern by Jenny Hoffman and I have stitched it on 32 ct. belgian linen one strand of floss over 2 threads. It is done in the loveliest colors and I have backed it with a beautiful peacock blue wool. It measures 8 1/4 inches by 5 3/4 inches and is stuffed with old quilt pieces and a little bit of wool. On the back I have stitched on a dark brown wool heart with primitive stitches and tucked in a pair of old fashioned scissors. I love these scissors for snipping threads and love the look of them. I always keep a pair of these handy when I'm working on my stitching or sewing.

This is Amelia from a TFC pattern. She is made from heavy muslin and is 20 inches tall. She is wearing a dress made from some old blue calico, an osnaberg apron and bonnet. Her face is all handstiched and she has been painted, sanded, and stained. She is carrying a small basket full of sweet annie. A couple of new prims

Good afternoon, prim friends. Let me start off by saying that there are currently some changes here on my selling blog. I am no longer taking orders for baskets. I have been so busy and I don't feel I can get them done in a timely manner so at this time, no more orders, please. I will be offering a basket here for sale now and then but if it is marked sold, then it is gone. I am so far behind at home and Ihope you understand but at this time I want the freedom to work on other projects. Also so many of my baskets are so expensive to ship. I so appreciate all of my loyal and new customers & there will still be baskets on here for sale, so please don't give up on me. Hopefully in the spring/summer I will get up the nerve to have my neck surgery & the weaving will be easier on me. Today I am offering a few things that I've so enjoyed working on.

This is a quaternity rose box which was inspired by Pineberry Lane. The box measures 4 inches across and 3 inches high. Inside it I have put 3 beeswax hearts, a wool strawberry, some vintage buttons, and a vintage clothespin wrapped with flax, rusty wire & then I attached a rusty bell. The base and sides of the box are covered with a deep red repro fabric and the rose has been stitched on 28ct. evenweave with one strand over 2 threads. PRICE is $24.00 which includes shipping. This is a beautiful heart and hand needlepunch pinkeep from another Pineberry Lane pattern. It is done in tans, ivory, a beautiful brick, and a tiny bit of robin egg blue and has the year 1802. It measures 5 x 4 1/2 inches and looks wonderful as a bowlfiller. PRICE ~ $27.00 includes shipping.
This is the sweetest needlebook from Stacy Nash's group that Jeannie from Country Sampler in Wisconsin has set up. This was such a fun projec to work on.

This picture shows the back of the needlebook with the year 1890. It is stitched on 32 ct. linen one over two threads.

This is the fron and it has ties to close it up to keep all of your needles handy when you are stitching.

This is the inside. It is such a gorgeous reproduction tan and red fabric Stacy has chosen ad the red heart for the needles is a beautiful red velveteen. Price ~ $40.00 includes shipping.

The last item I am offering today is this gorgeous pillow which I have rag stuffed. It has a wonderful old feel to it. This "Token of Love" pillow is a Pineberry Lane design and measures 12 x 8 1/2 inches so it is a wonderful size to sit on an old chair as I have shown here. Attached are two strawberries ~ one is red wool & the other is a beautiful red & tan fabric which is also the backing for the pillow. The tops of the berries are dk. green wool. Here is a primitive makedo doll for all of you prim sewin' ladies out there. She is 20 inches tall and is mounted on an antique textile bobbin. She is made from muslin with a hand stitched face, flax hair, and an osnaburg dress. Her apron is made from ticking as well as the ruffle on her dress. In her pocket is the cutest little pair of scissors and some sweet annie. She has a small pinkeep which I cross stitched from osnaburg hanging from a rusty pin on her apron. In her left hand is a small basket which I made and it is full of her quilt scraps as she is on her way to her weekly sewing circle. Around her neck is a beeswax spool for sharpening those pins and needles. There are a couple of rusty pins in her little pinkeep.

This is the sweetest little sampler which can definitely be left out year round. If you notice "Except" is misspelled which is intentional in keeping with the times. This sampler was stitched on 28ct. linen with the words stitched with one thread over one strand and the little gal, the posey, and the keys stitched over two threads. I then aged it with walnut stain. The frame is 9 in. tall by 7 in. wide. This is one of my very favorite patterns from PineberryLane.

MEHITABLE WRIGHT HANGING SAMPLER

This is a pattern from Pineberry Lane. This beautiful redwork hanging sampler is just in time for Valentine's Day but can be left out all year as it is not overly "Valentiney". I have stitched it on 28ct. evenweave with one thread over two and then stained it with walnut crystals for a beautiful aged look. It is stuffed with two layers of quilt batting and has a thin jute hanger with a key hanging on it. It measures 8 in. x 7 1/2 in.

It bears traditional motifs in keeping with all things heartfelt - peacocks (purity), keys (fidelity), hearts (divine love) and a potted flower (beauty and innocence).

You can remove the hanger if desired as it is attached with rusty safety pins on the back and use it as a bowl filler. It would look lovely in a large crock or wooden bowl of flax.

HEAR THOSE SLEIGH BELLS RINGING?

I just finished this wonderful Merry Christmas hanging sampler from a PineberryLane

pattern & I love how it turned out. Santa is giving Rudolph a ride in his sleigh. This sampler has been stitched on 28ct. over 2 threads with drab browns, greens, grays and red and is backed with red wool. I whipstitched around the whole sampler and attached to the bottom are 5 rusty jingle bells. It is hanging from some grungy crochet cotton thread. It is stuffed with 2 layers of quilt batting and measures 10 x 6 inches. I have lightly stained it with walnut ink crystals. Just think how wonderful it would be to hang on the door and the bells will be ringing. This is the only one I will be offering for sale although I love it so much I will be making one more for myself.

First is this primitive framed cross stitch that I have done from A Shelly Auen pattern. It is stitched on osnaberg, one thread over two strands, then coffee stained. Next are three primitive Christmas angels from a SWEETPEA PRIMITIVES pattern. They measure 7 1/2 inches and are sewn from muslin and coffee stained. I love the simplicity of it. It is in a distressed black over red 5x7 inch frame and the sampler is done in osnaberg one strand over two threads. Here is a primitive pinkeep from a pattern by Lori Brechlin. It is done in drab blues, reds, brown and gold. It measures 4 1/2 inches x 5 1/2 inches. It reads "Seek Joy in All Things" and I'm offering it for $31.00 which includes shipping.

Here are some olde style ginger folk. They measure 12 1/2 inches tall and are very grubby. They have wee little rusty bells for eyes, ticking scarf, a rusty bell pinned on their belly or chest & a grungy parchment paper adhered to their bellies. Each one is $11.00 plus shipping. The blackened beeswax candle with grungy flicker light is also for sale for $4.50 plus shipping.

Here is a blackened beeswax Santa that is dusted with spices. It is 4 inches tall and looks great in a bowl of rosehips or in your old cupboard. It is $6.00 plus shipping. I made 15 of these for an order for a local primitive shop.

Here is a teeny tiny makedo Santa that is mounted on a bobbin. His hat is green wool, button eyes and sheeps wool beard & hair. He is 10 inches tall and will stand or hang on your prim tree or peg rack. He is $10.00 plus shipping. These wee Santas are adorable and each is a little different. They are from a wonderful pattern by Wendy from Pineberry Lane.

Here is another Santa. This little guy is 11 inches and has a red wool hat with wool trim and a rusty bell on the tip of his hat. This one is mounted on the end of a bobbin and is meant to hang. He will not stand. He is $10.00 plus shipping.

CHRISTMAS IS COMING

Good afternoon my prim friends. On this rainy weekend I have been working on some old fashioned Santas and angels. Both are new patterns from Pinebery Lane.

The Santa is so cute. He measures 15 inches tall, his coat and hat are made from wool and the trim is sheep’s wool as is his beard. There is a rusty bell on the tip of his hat and he has a string of bells hanging from his belt. His face is hand stitched and he is primmed up to perfection. He is $25.00 which includes priority shipping.

This old fashioned angel makedo is mounted on an old textile bobbin. She stands 14 inches tall. Her blouse is made from osnaberg and her skirt and wings are made from an old burlap feed sack. Her wings have been sprinkled with mica flakes and are hand stitched to the bag of her. Her flax hair is sewn on and her face is hand stitched. She has a rusty bell sewn on the front of her belt. VACATION COMING SOON

Good morning!
Today really feels like fall here in Michigan and I have to tell you, I Love It. I love the changing seasons but fall is my favorite. I wanted to make a quick post to let everyone know that as of today I'm not taking any more basket orders until after my vacation the 2nd week of October. I have a few things to get caught up on at home, some swaps to get done, and family time to enjoy.
Don't get me wrong, I love what I do but I am looking forward to a little break. You may see a primitive doll or cross stitch item for sale posted here but I won't be back to taking any basket orders until the 3rd week of October and I hope to be posting on this blog more regularly. I really must get more organized and get my weaving room cleaned out. I've been weaving outside or in the garage since spring so I have to get set up for the cold months coming. I barely have a path in there now, LOL. Anyone that is a weaver knows how messy this craft is ~ one basket may call for numerous sizes of reed & once you cut open a pound of it, it just seems to go all over the place. Of course when I'm really on a roll I'm terrible about picking up after myself in there so I just close the door.
Well anyway, enough rambling. I will still be posting on my other blog so I hope you stop in for a visit.

AUTUMN PRIMS FOR SALE

Hi to all of my prim friends. It sure feels like autumn in Michigan. We have had a few nice days but the maples are turning fast. I'm still working on baskets so if you have one ordered, don't give up on me yet. I can only work on them for awhile & because of my herniated discs in my neck and the muscles I use weaving seems to irritate my neck more than cross stitching and sewing. I do work on baskets everyday though. Isn't that weird how some things bother us and others don't when we have an injury? Anyway enought about that!
Here is a Hanging small sampler I'm offering for sale today. It is from a Stacy Nash pattern. It measures about 6 inches wide and is 4 inches tall. It is stitched on 28 ct. over 2 threads and has a prim black and mustard checked backing. It is called the Search for the Perfect Pumpkin. Here are the Olde Crows from a Pineberry Lane pattern. They both measure about 8 1/2 inches tall. The one on the left is mounted on an old bobbin, has vintage button eyes and is on a nest of flax. His mouth is closed. The crow on the right is mounted on an old hogscraper, has vintage buttons for eyes, and at the base I have wrapped homespun and a couple of sprigs of Sweet Annie. His mouth is open as he is cawing to his friend. There has been no glue used on these makedos. Please specify crow on bobbin or hogscraper if interested. They are sold separately for $24.00 which includes priority shipping.

These are The Forgotten Pumpkins made from an Old Saltbox Prims pattern. They measure 5 x 6 inches each, not counting their stems which are from old & dried sunflowers. They are very grungy & smell fantastic. Their faces have been made from osnaburg and burlap which I color washed and have been handstitched on using floss. They have a bit of moss around their stems. ABC witch pinkeep from a Shelly Auen pattern is my next offering. It has been stitched on osnaberg over 2 threads and the backing is primitive pumpkin and black. I have stuffed in with scented sawdust and attached some rusty pins and a button. It measures 5 x 4 1/2 inches. It smells wonderful and would look so prim in an old bowl with some fixens as I have shown here which are not included. I am asking $28.00 which includes shipping in the 48 US. These are primitive fall makedo dolls from a Jackie Schmidt pattern. The blocks they are mounted on are new which I have stained a little bit. They stand 9 inches tall and both have flax for hair. Their faces have been handstitched on and are wearing homespun dresses. The white doll is holding a stick with a wax crow and some sweet annie wired on. She also has a putka pod necklace. The black doll has an osnaberg pocked which I have stuffed in some putka pods and some sweet annie. They look adorable sitting in my old pie safe. These little dollies are also from a Jackie Schmidt pattern. They are very small and measure only 6 1/2 inches each. They have thread attached on the back for hanging or they can lean as I have shown them here. Their faces are hand stitched on, they are wearing osnaberg dresses, a belt with some sprigs of sweet annie and have a putka pod necklace. Their hair is white wool.

SURGERY POSTPONED

Good morning everyone!
I just wanted to post a quick note that my surgery has been postponed and that I am taking a few orders here and there as long as you aren't in a big hurry. TAKING A BREAK

Good morning, my prim friends!
As my title suggests, I am taking a break from weaving so until further notice I will not be taking anymore orders. I have a couple small orders to finish up which I will get done within a week or so.
I have been having severe neck pain as many of you know and yesterday I saw the neurosurgeon in Petoskey. I am scheduled for surgery on July 29th. I have 3 herniated discs in my cervical spine C 4-5, C 5-6, C 6-7. My surgeon will be performing an ACDF which is an anterior cervical disectomy with fusion. He removes the herniated disc, does a bone graft where the disc was, then screws in a small metal plate in to hold the bone while the fusion heals. If all goes well it is a one night stay in the hospital & about a 6 week recovery.
I hope to continue to post on my original blog here and there but I don't know how many pics I will have to share. Hopefully some of our yard and garden but Michigan weather this year has not been very conducive to growing, LOL.

AMERICANA ANYONE?

Greetings, my friends. Since Memorial Day will soon be here and the 4th of July right behind it I have decided to offer some Americana baskets. This first basket can sit or hang on the wall by 2 handles on the back which I ave woven. I hand dyed the red & blue weavers, handpainted the stars, then stained it with walnut stain. This is a large basket. It is 15 1/2 inches long, 7 1/2 inches wide, and 10 inches tall. This basket sells for $44.00 which includes travel fare.Here's a closeup of the corner of the flag.

OLD GLORY ~ This basket has a nice sturdy handle and is 15 inches long x 6 inches wide. It is 14 inches tall including the handle. It sells for $33.00 which includes shipping.

This is LIL GLORY. It measures 8 1/2 inches long, 3 1/2 inches wide and is 10 inches tall including the handle. It sells for $22.0 which includes shipping.

I'VE BEEN MISSING IN ACTION

Hello to everyone! I apologize for being gone for so long and it certainly wasn't intentional. Our little grandson Liam was sick last week with a terrible case of the flu and I spent alot of time over there and ended up catching it. I was down and out for at least 4 days, I mean out ~ I was sleeping about 14 hours per day so needless to say I got very little done last week. I feel 100% better now and have been weaving my fingers to the bone. Here is a gathering of baskets that I have made. Some are being offered for sale here and some at Early Works Mercantile which debuts May 1st at midnight, which as I type is about 20 minutes away.I am now offering a set of Shaker Cheese baskets for sale. They measure 16 inches, 12 inches, and 9 inches. They are stained with medium walnut stain and sell for $56.00 which includes travel fee.

Here is the 12 inch shaker cheese basket that I have not listed previously and it sells for $22.00 which includes travel fee.

Here is the New England Egg basket. This is a very large round basket and is very functional. It is great for magazines, your quilting or sewing, blankets, pillows, etc. It measures 14 inches in diameter and 8 inches tall which does not include the swing handle. It is stained walnut but is also available in barn red, buttermilk, mustard, or blue which is shown in the above photo. I use milk paint which is non toxic with a walnut stain either over or under the paint. This is a very lovely basket and it sells for $55.00 which includes shipping.

This is a shaker basket with a square base and round top. It is finished in a driftwood stain. It is 13 inches in diameter at the top and 14 1/2 inches tall including the handle. This is also available in walnut or milkpaint. It is $33.00 which includes Parcel Post shipping. This basket is Parcel due to the size.

These baskets are the little prim weed baskets which look so charming filled with sweet annie. They are 8 inches tall, 7 in. wide at the base and 5 inches tall at the top. I've been popping in and leaving comments here and there on other blogs but didn't have the energy when I was sick to post and with the weather turning nice finally I don't have the time. I'm sure many of you are spending more time outside with your yards, gardens, flowers, or just relaxing with a good book and a glass of tea or a cup of coffee. I love the spring and summer, but also love the fall and winter. I just plain ole love the changing seasons but this time of year is my busiest. I love being outdoors enjoying the sunshine and working in the yard. There is so much to be done in our yard and I plan on planting lots more flowers this year along with the veggies that we usually grow. Tomorrow after Simon gets home we are heading out to find some morel mushrooms. I don't eat them but love to pick them. When we get enough we always dry some and mail them to the out of town kids, though Rachael is hoping to find some since they moved from Colorado to Seattle.

I'VE BEEN BUSY

Hi, everyone!
I've been very busy the last couple of weeks and feel so bad that I haven't posted anything new. I've done 3 wonderful swaps with some very talented blogging friends and have been keeping up with orders so I don't have anything new to show you today but I will have soon, I promise.
I'm very excited because I've been invited to join a wonderful and very talented group of artisans by Doreen Frost of Vermont Harvest. It is http://www.earlyworkmercantile.com/ and will debut on May 1st. My title for this new venture will be Jordan Valley Baskets which is a name that a friend of mine came up with. We live very near the Jordan Valley in Michigan which is just a beautiful area. We pick morel mushrooms there and Simon fishes the rivers there. Thank you, Janet, for choosing this name for me. I will continue to keep this selling blog and update it more often than I have been.

TWO MORE BASKETS

FEATHER BASKET ~ This is a square to round basket meaning it has an 8 x 8 inch square base and the top is round measuring 12 1/2 inches in diameter. In the early days this basket was used to gather feathers. The top cannot be removed but can be quickly raised and lowered so the feathers wouldn't blow away.

Here is a close up view of it so you can see how the lid is woven around the handle. This basket is 15 inches tall with the handle and 9 inches without the handle. It has been stained medium walnut using my homemade walnut stain that I make each fall.

WILLIAMSBURG MARKET BASKET This basket is woven on a Williamsburg handle. In Colonial times baskets were a necessity and in most families the baskets were made at home. The children were taught to weave as early as possible. Their style of baskets was very simple. The base of this basket is rectangular measuring 5 x 16 inches. It then gradually flares out with the shape of the handle. At the top of the sides it measures 8 inches x 19 1/2 inches and measures 9 1/2 inches tall. This would be a great basket for gathering herbs or flowers or just sitting in a cupboard or on a table. It does fit perfectly sitting on the back of the toilet.

This is an inner view so you can see how the sides and ends gradually flare out. It is also stained medium walnut.

These pinkeeps measure 5 inches by 3 inches and have been aged. Each has a small bird sewn on with a scrap of cheesecloth attached with a rusty pin for a wing. They have a scrap of an old quilt or piece of burlap pinned on and a button or two. The birds have been made with civil war reproduction fabric. The middle one is not available. These pinkeeps are $14.00 which includes shipping.

This pinkeep has been made from osnaberg with a scrap of ticking primitively sewn on. It measures 3in. x 5 3/4 in. I have stitched on the year and attached some rusty pins with buttons and tied on a sprig of sweet annie with twine. It is $13.00 which includes shipping.

PIE BASKET ~ This basket has a wooden base and 2 cobalt blue pottery handles. It measures 12 inches across the top. $40.00 which includes shipping.

MYRTA ~ made from a Jackie Schmidt pattern. Myrta measures 11 inches and will hang or sit. She has a stitched face, prim dress and has a necklace from a slice of walnut. Myrta is made of osnaberg and has been grunged and sanded for that aged look. $18.00 which includes shipping.

This primitive cross stitch sampler is from a pattern from notforgotten farm. I stitched it on 18 ct. fabric, stitched it on civil war repro red print (to match Josiah's dog), heavily aged it. This adorable primitive bunny was made using a Kentucky Primitives pattern. He is made from muslin which was aged. He has flowers stitched on his side from dyed quilt batting. This 2 hares sampler sewing box with tiny pinkeep are from a pattern from pineberry lane. The box is 3" x 1 3/4 inches tall which I have covered with prim blues and browns. The designs have been stitched on 28 ct. linen and have been heavily aged. In the box is a vintage spool of tan thread, 3 buttons and the tiny pinkeep. I have attached a rusty safety pin to the pinkeep and the top of the box has been lightly stuffed so pins can be attached. There is one rusty straight pin on it. Price is $26.00 which includes shipping.
